It's really hard
to put your own priorities
on the front burner.

Let’s talk about why.

Kate's Chapter From
HerStory 2:

"Learn How to Define Your Priorities and Use them for Success"

My chapter addresses the awful drowning feeling women lawyers often experience.

So many women lawyers feel like their heads are swirling with to-dos, and there is never enough time to keep up with it all.

They want to feel more organized, more on top of things, and less distracted so they can just flow through their day, get the important things done, and feel accomplished every day.

Instead, women often go to bed each night haunted by the ghosts of undone to-dos. In my chapter, I talk about how women lawyers often turn to efforts like planning, organizing, and powering through in an attempt to keep up with it all but actually risk burnout instead.

At the same time, the women lawyers I work with often feel guilty about how they spend their time. In addition to guilt, they also struggle with issues such as imposter syndrome, people-pleasing, perfectionism, and the nagging feeling there’s something wrong with them if they are struggling. In the essay, you will learn about some of the external causes lurking behind these issues that may flip the way you think about them and bring you some relief.

Finally, we’ll talk about your own priorities, what you value, and what makes you happy. I’ll help you understand why it can be so challenging for women lawyers to identify their own priorities, let alone put yourself on the front burner.

(And spoilers, Friends sitcom fans, there’s even a Monica Geller metaphor in there for you!)

Listen to Kate’s chapter on your phone:

Kate Ahern, J.D., LL.M.

Unfrazzled® strategist, lawyer, law professor, former big law firm attorney, mother, and entrepre-nerd.

Hey there, I’m Kate, and I'm on a mission to advance women lawyers by helping you take back control of your time, align your time with your priorities, and navigate the obstacles that make it so freaking hard to do that (from gender bias and our burnout-inducing law practice culture to perfectionism, procrastination, difficulty saying "no," and many other Frazzle FactorsTM ).

Friend, I know you worked SO hard to get your law degree and build an amazing life, and it shouldn’t feel like it’s costing you your life to keep up with it all!

Ultimately, I’m trying to change this frazzling practice culture for women lawyers, so someday you’ll have a system that supports you living an Unfrazzled® life. But until I tackle that little problem, I’m giving you lots of support in taking back control of your time AND a regular, consistent escape from that legal practice culture that makes you feel weird, selfish, guilty, or like an outsider for wanting to live the Unfrazzled® life you deserve.

Because you need a place to hang out where living an Unfrazzled® life feels normal, expected, respected, and where people cheer you on for going after it! This is that place!
